It will be obvious that this post has nothing to do with poetry or anything creative. But this is a place I can record anything I want and mark it as an original thought of mine before "putting it out there".
I was about to comment on one of the many recent articles regarding Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals and the timing of evolution. I reconsidered because how do I know if my opinion won't get ripped off? Yes, I know, probably slim to none chance. Anyway, I've noticed an absence of one particular element in every article/hypothesis/theory: WAR.
Not a single mention of the most consistent offshoot of the human condition is factored into any of the opinions that I've read.
Every other month a rethinking of past theories is put forth. These seem to be accompanied by a lot of self-indulgent, wanna-be, beard-scratching, feux intellectual pondering.
Has it not crossed anyone's mind that maybe the overlap found in the genetic evidence could have been caused by something obvious?
Sapiens and Neanderthals crossed paths, war ensued, Sapiens killed the male enemies and took the females as their prize. Guess what happened next?
Hopefully that can be figured out by people with minimal certifications.
It's just a thought. I think it's an idea that may be worth exploring by others more qualified than me. Hopefully they would also have the resources to research it properly.
For the record, I doubt that I'm the first person to think of this possibility.
If it turns out that I am...
Fuck.
